Shelter Pet Lovers’ Supply Drive Termed Huge Success;
$36,000 Raised to Benefit Area Shelter Pets

August 12, 2010 …. Dogs and cats living in shelters and foster homes in Kentuckiana will benefit from $36,000 worth of Feeders Supply gift cards as a result of the fundraising efforts of Feeders Supply and its customers. Eleven area shelters and foster groups received the gifts in a ceremony on August 12 at the Feeders Supply store located at 4600 Shelbyville Rd. in the Shelbyville Road Plaza.

Donations were collected at Feeders Supply stores located in Louisville, Shepherdsville and Elizabethtown, Kentucky and in Southern Indiana. Throughout the month of July, store customers were asked to donate cash to the drive in $1, $5 or $20 increments. Feeders Supply then added ten percent to the amount collected and issued gift cards that the organizations can use to purchase whatever supplies they need, from food to cat litter, toys, food bowls, pet cleaning supplies, grooming tools, crates, carriers and more.

Eleven area groups benefit from the drive. Each received a percentage of the total donation based on their shelter capacity or average pets within their foster systems. The organizations are:  Louisville’s Metro Animal Services, Kentucky Humane Society, New Albany & Floyd County Animal Shelter, Animal Care Society, Animal Protection Association, Shamrock Foundation, Greyhounds of Shamrock, GRRAND, Clark County Humane Association, Hope For Pets and Vine Grove Animal Refuge Center.

Feeders Supply is Kentuckiana’s own locally-owned and family-operated chain of pet food and supply stores. There are 13 locations serving Louisville, Southern Indiana, Shepherdsville and Elizabethtown.
